Dr. Maggie Kamaile Long is a Native Hawaiian board-certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice from the Medical University of South Carolina. Kamaile provides trauma-informed, culturally grounded mental health care to Hawaiʻi’s rural and underserved communities. She is a devoted advocate for equitable mental health access across Hawaiʻi.
Kamaile has over 15 years of nursing experience in Hawaiʻi and on the mainland where she served keiki and families in rural and urban emergency departments and outpatient mental health clinics. Kamaile supports individuals navigating trauma, grief, anxiety, life transitions, and other common mental health concerns. Her care approach blends evidence-based psychotherapeutic techniques with medication management to meet each person’s unique needs. Rooted in the core values of kuleana (responsibility), mālama (to care for), lōkahi (unity/harmony), and haʻahaʻa (humility), her practice integrates modern, evidence-based approaches with deep respect for the lived experiences of ʻohana and community.
When she is not working, Kamaile enjoys traveling internationally, playing West African djembe, attending music events, spending time outdoors, and sharing meaningful experiences with her family.
